You asked, our all-inclusive 6d/5n bird photography tour package
from coast to coast to the mountains focusing in our  endemic and
near endemic species:  
Elfin-woods Warbler (Sierra Warbler),
Amazon, Tanager, Owl, Nightjar
, plus Mango, Emerald, Green
Mango, Euphonia, and others. We start at El Yunque where we will
look for more than 12 endemic birds; less driving, more birds.

DAY 1 - El Yunque National Forest

  • You should arrive the night before (room and dinner included
    in price) as the next morning a full-day birding at El Yunque
    National Forest is waiting for us. This will be our first try of the
    Elfin-woods Warbler, Tanager, Emerald, Tody, Green
    Mango, Bullfinch, Spindalis, plus a near endemic species,
    the Loggerhead Kinglbird;  we will keep our eyes open for
    the Broad-winged Hawk and Sharp-shinned Hawk. There is
    also a possiblitily to see the Black Swift. Before leaving the
    Forest, we will go for our first chance to see our Puerto Rican
    Amazon. Picnic style lunch; dinner before checking in at our
    hotel.

DAY 2 - El Yunque National Forest, Luquillo

  • Breakfast at local bakery followed by another full-day bird
    outing with a morning trip to El Yunque while we keep looking
    for more birds. Our target bird of the morning will be the very
    rare White-collared Crow (rare sightings since 2016), plus
    the Green-throated Carib, Green Mango, Emerald, Tanager,
    Bullfinch, and Spindalis. We will go for a second chance for the  
    Puerto Rican Amazon, plus the White-crowned Pigeon.
  • Lunch at a local small restaurant in Luquillo, followed by birding
    in the countryside of Luquillo as we look for more endemics
    species:  Woodpecker, Lizard Cuckoo, Flycatcher, Oriole,  
    Adelaide´s Warbler.  Early dinner, then go back to El Yunque
    for the first try of our little Owl and return hotel.

DAY 3 - Luquillo to Maricao

  • Check-out. Breakfast after at local bakery followed by another
    long full-day traveling from the coastal northeastern plain
    through the mountains of Maricao, with lots of driving and stops
    to see as many birds as possible, such as: Caribbean
    Elaenia, Antillean Crested Hummingbird, Green-throated
    Carib, Yellow-shouldered Blackbird, Plain Pigeon. We will
    meet with the conservation group that is working with the Plain
    Pigeon; we stop for lunch on our way to Maricao.
  • Our journey for more endemics continues as we drive to
    Maricao (Vireo, Euphonia, Lesser Antillean Pewee), plus
    more opportunities for the Tanager, Elfin-woods Warbler, and
    our three endemic hummingbirds. A third wild population of
    Puerto Rican Amazon is now in Maricao. We will stay for one
    night in Maricao and will look again for the little Owl.

DAY 4 - Maricao to southwest

  • Breakfast in local bakery, we will look for our missing endemic
    bird species with more photo opportunities of the Elfin-woods
    Warbler, Owl, and hummingbirds in the area and hotel. If you
    are a coffee lover, this is a great opportunity to buy the best
    quality not sold in supermarkets.
  • Check-out and drive to Laguna Cartagena as we look for the .
    West Indian Whistling Duck, White-cheeked Pintail,
    Purple Gallinule, Yellow Crake--rare). Afternoon in La
    Parguera with more opportunities for the Yellow-shouldered
    Blackbird, Adelaide´s Warbler, Caribbean Elaenia, Emerald,
    Flycatcher, Mango), plus Venezuelan Trourpial.  Night outing
    for Puerto Rican Nightjar and seasonal Antillean Nighthawk.

DAY 5 - La Parguera and Cabo Rojo

  • We will stay one extra night in the area for more photography
    opportunity for the Nightjar and owls, plus we will be covering
    other areas, such as the Rice Tech, Cabo Rojo, Guánica,
    and Lajas. Also, we will meet with the conservation group
    working with the Yellow-shouldered Blackbird. Those who
    prefer to stay at the hotel to go diving or snorkeling can book
    a tour with local boat operators, including the biolumiscent bay.

DAY 6 - More birding while driving to San Juan

  • Early birding around the hotel and area with breakfast on local
    bakery.  Today we depart to San Juan with a stop in Mayagüez
    and a possilbe stop in Arecibo, if time allows. Plan to depart
    after 4.00 PM as drop-off in San Juan will be around 3:00 PM.
