REQUEST AVAILABILITY

  • These are the SPECIAL Terms and Conditions for our all-inclusive private birding packages.
  • Upon receipt of your request, we will verify its available and will confirm you in the next 48 hours.
  • We reserve the right to decline or retain any person(s) as member of the tour at any time.

ONLINE RESERVATION (Deposit)

  • Our online booking system is managed by Peek Pro (2048 bit SSL Encrypted Payment), which
    accepts all mayor credit cards:  American Express, VISA, Mastercard, Discover, JCB, GPay, Apple
    Pay.  
  • Prices are displayed and processed in USD.
  • The person is charge of the booking and private group is responsible for paying for the whole
    group, we will not accept individual payments from each member of the group.
  • We will not charge your credit card for the $200.00 per person non-refundable deposit until
    we check availability of vehicle, Guide, and hotel rooms for selected dates, and will accept or
    decline your request within a 48 hour period.
  • If we accept your request, you will receive an email that we have accepted your reservation and
    you will have 72 hours to cancel without any charge to your credit card.
  • To avoid charges to your credit card in this 72 hours period, you must inform us via email
    (preguntame@adventourspr.com) if you need to cancel the participation of any member of the
    group or the whole group.
  • The company that handles the online booking software (Peek.com) will charge you a fee of 6%,
    plus the credit card transaction fee.
  • Once we charge the deposit, a receipt of your payment will be sent automatically to your email;
    this will complete your booking online. No refunds will be given after completing the first part of
    the online booking process.
  • Do not finish this booking if you want the full amount of your payment covered when you buy Peek
    Protect. Please contact us and we will open a ticket for the full payment.

FINAL PAYMENT METHODS

  • Credit cards through our online booking system.
  • If you prefer to charge to your credit card the tip for the Guide and/or Driver, please let us know in
    the "Comments" section at the end of the booking process.
  • Direct deposit - you should check if your bank allows ACH and it should be free; any fee charged
    to our bank will be payed cash on site by our customer.
  • Western Union** (cash on location an option for clients in Europe, Canadá, Central and South
    América).
  • Wire transfers must be approved by us. Funds should be in USD and available within the next
    three days of sending the money.  In order to accept your wire transfer, you need to pay the non-
    refundable deposit using our booking system, balance due will be approved to be paid through a
    wire transfer. Any charges from our bank will be charged to your credit card on system.  Our bank
    will charge a fee, which usually starts in $45
  • We will not guarantee a date unless we receive the final payment.
  • The person is charge of the group is responsible for pay for the whole group, we will not
    accept individual payments from each member of the group.
  • If you prefer to charge to your credit card the tip for the Guide and/or Driver, please let us know in
    the "Comments" section at the end of the booking process.
  • Group tours (universities, schools, incentive travel, travel agents, tour operators, etc.), checks are
    not accepted unless it is a certified check sent at least two months before departure; otherwise,
    checks will not be accepted as a payment method. We do not accept payments the same day of
    the trip unless there is a written agreement.

DUE DATE FINAL PAYMENT

  • Final payment due is 60 days before selected birding package, failure to comply with this deadline
    date automatically change the status of the system and the date will be available to any other
    client that wants to book with us on the same date.
  • You will be receiving an invoice or a new ticket if you want to pay your balance due online.
  • If you are booking with less than 60 days before selected activity, your credit card will be charged
    for the total of your booking as a private activity at the moment we accept your request and your
    payment will be non-refundable.

CANCELLATION POLICIES

  • Payments are non-refundable, please refer to our General Terms and Conditions, this applies to
    any member of your private group.
  • A cancellation fee and a 15% service fee will be charged to your credit card.
  • On customized itineraries: cancellations received 45 days before departure will be subject to an
    additional handling charge of $125 per person and a service fee of 15% of the land tour rate, plus
    any other non-refundable expenses incurred for hotels, transportation, or other arrangements
    contracted for.
  • If you need to cancel your group reservation with less than one week of your trip due to natural
    disaster, terrorism, or shutdown in your country, we will honor your reservation subject to any non-
    refundable expenses incurred for hotels, transportation, or other arrangemente contracted for. A
    one year voucher will be given with no rescheduling fee.
  • If you need to contact us, please do not assume that we have received text, voice or email
    messages, always confirm with our staff.
  • There can be no adjustment or refunds for unused portions of a program unless special
    arrangements have been made with our company prior to departure in written.
  • No refund for last minute cancellations or no show at meeting point, or pick-up hotel/port.

WEATHER

  • We go out rain or shine, bring your rain gear. Nevertheless, sometimes the weather changes as
  • Average temperature 72 °F (22 °C) in the winter to 86 °F (30 °C) in the summer.
  • Huricane season from June 1st  through November 30th.
  • The rainy season in runs from April through November, but the highest rainfall occurring in August,
    September, and October (peak of the huricane season in Puerto Rico is September to mid October).
  • Expect short and fast showers at El Yunque due to the Trade Winds.

INCLEMENT WEATHER POLICIES FOR OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES

  • Severe weather watches mean that severe weather could occur within the next few hours.
  • Severe weather warnings mean that severe weather is going to occur within 15-30 minutes.
    Warnings are proceeded by watches (approx.
    1-3 hours before).
  • If thunder is heard, all activities are cancelled until 30 minutes after the last time thunder is
    heard.
  • If a severe weather watch or warning is issued (including isolated or scattered
    thunderstorms), all outdoor activities will be canceled during the warned timeline. As this is out
    of our control, our Weather Policy applies.

WEATHER POLICY

  • Our staff will be monitoring the weather for your safety through official alerts from the
    Government.  Your guide and/or driver will cancel or reroute your walk if her/she believes that
    potentially dangerous situations are probable due to weather conditions.
  • We highly recommend that you buy a travel insurance with cancellation cover before departure to
    your final destination.

CLIENT´S RESPONSIBILITIES

  • We will need your contact cell phone number, hotel telephone number, room number, or any
    other information needed where we can contact you in case the driver/guide don´t find you, any
    delay in the traffic, etc.
  • In case you will be late, you should notify assigned guide, driver and/or our office via phone.  
    Please do not send last minute text or voice message as they can be driving and it is illegal to
    read/send text or emails in Puerto Rico while driving.  
  • It is the responsibility of the person who book the tour to inform all participants in your private
    group on these terms and conditions, including the clean-up fees.

INSURANCE  

  • AdvenTours / Birding PUERTO RICO is not responsible for the loss, damage, theft of luggage or
    personal belongings, or for personal injury, accidents or illness.
  • For your protection, it is important and strongly recommended that you have or purchase
    adequate travel insurance before departing to Puerto Rico that includes cancellation by you or tour
    operator, tour/activity interruption, coverage for hurricanes, earthquake,natural disasters,
    emergency medical coverage, global rescue, emergency medical coverage, pre-existing medical
    conditions, student travel . Before buying your travel insurance make sure that it includes the
    outdoor activities you want to book with us, specially outdoor adventures.
  • Before arriving in Puerto Rico you should check with your insurance if they cover your expenses in
    the event of a medical emergency while you are in Puerto Rico.
  • If you purchase Peek Protect, please read their terms and conditions as any claim is done directly
    with them, not us.

TOUR INFORMATION

Effort Level

  • Low-impact to moderate effort.
  • You should be able to stand/walk for 4 to 6 hours daily.
  • Trails are short, we walk on the side of the road or dirt trails most of the time close to the van,
    terrain could be flat, uneven or low hills.
  • The Driver will be in charge to move the van as needed in longer walks to be close to the group. If
    you need a rest, you can stay in the van with the Driver.
  • Sometimes it takes longer to find a bird; you can also bring a small, lightweight portable stool.
  • If someone in your group is pregnant, have knee or back pain, cannot stand for long periods of
    time, or use a roller, please contact us before booking.
  • Each birder is responsible to carry and handle their luggage, binoculars and any other photographic
    equipment. Baggage owner’s risk entirely.

Important notes

  • For maximum enjoyment of your tour, you should be in a good physical and mental health, able
    and willing to actively participate in solo or group events, and to walk and move about when the
    tour visits places of interest which can be reached only on foot, and able to participate in van trips.
  • Trip participants who required any form of assistance must be accompanied by a travel companion
    who is capable of, and totally responsible for providing assistance.
  • It should also be noted that there are attractions which require walking to observe and enjoy.
  • Please note that when “see” or “view” are specified in the itineraries, it denotes an outside view;
    “visit” or “short stop at” usually includes entry.
  • During our trips we usually take pictures of our customers and will be sent to you as a souvenir or
    your vacation.  We can either send them to you via email or upload them in our Facebook site.  
    You should approve us taken pictures of the trip as a souvenir, publishing it on Facebook, or using
    it as part of our promotional or educational materal.  Please send note by written if you don´t
    want pictures to be taken during your trip.
  • Many birders love to take pictures of birds. If you are booking a bird photography trip to be used
    for commercial or profit benefits, please read our Photography/Filming/Drones Policy before
    completing this booking. Some Government (Federal, State, Municipal) sites require a special
    permit that you should show us upon booking selected activity if you plan to sell your pictures. If
    you have any question whether or not you need a permit at El Yunque, send an email to sm.fs.
    eynfsu@usda.gov or call 787.888.5626 (permit takes approximately 2 weeks). If you need further
    assistance, contact us at your convenience.
  • Drones are not allowed during our birding trips.

Lodging and meals

  • We reserve the right to substitute hotels, if it should be necessary, from those mentioned in our
    itineraries.
  • Breakfasts, luncheons, and dinners are included only as specified in the itineraries.
  • You will be given a menu to choose one of three options for breakfast and dinner. Dinner will
    include water; desserts and drinks are not included.
  • If anyone in the group requirew a special diet due to health condition, we should know it before
    submitting itineraries that include any type of meal.
  • We will have a cooler exclusively for lunch and snacks.  To avoid contamination, only the Guide
    and Driver will be in charge of the cooler. A second smaller cooler will be available is anyone in the
    group needs to place theri personal juice, fruits, etc.
  • Personal expenses at hotels, bakeries, and restaurants are not included.

Health

  • Please let us know (1) if anyone suffer from any health condition or allergies, including food, that
    we need to be aware of; (2) if someone in the group suffers from low blood pressure or low sugar,
    please let us know if you want us to provide a cooler with electrolyte/energy drinks or juice to be
    paid on site or charged to your credit card. (3) if anyone needs a refrigerator for certain types of
    medicines.

Transportation

  • Vehicle assigned for our birding packages is a 2024 Ford Transit high roof van for 13 passengers
    and with enough space for luggage and photographic equipment.
  • Seat rotation will be used.
  • If you suffer from motion sickness, please be aware that roads to the mountains of El Yunque and
    Maricao are curvy roads, bring medication.
  • Smoking is not allowed at any time during the trip, in or outside the vehicle. Trip could be
    terminated without any refund if this policy is not observed.  If you are traveling with non-birders
    and one of them smoke, do not book this birding trip.
  • Due to allergies of some of our Guides and Drivers, avoid strong perfumes. We encourage
    you to wear long pants and long sleeves to proctect yourself from insect bites and sunlight.
  • For any marks/stains left in the vehicle due to any chemical used by clients (sunblock, insect
    repellent, etc.), a cleaning fee will apply to your credit card. The amount will depend in the type of
    stain and location (carpet, seats, vehicle).
  • Absolutely NO wet clothes, food or drinks in the vehicle (includes chips, gum, candy, fruit
    or water). All of these items will be place on the trunk of our vehicles. Stops will be
    provided during your trip to enjoy your snacks or drinks. Cleaning fee starts at $250.
  • If someone of your group shows flu related symptoms (sneezing, coughing, fever, allergies, etc.)
    they will be asked to use a face mask in the vehicle. The person in charge of the group shall
    inform all members, is someone don´t agree with this item, DO NOT FINISH this booking.
  • TRASH FREE ZONES apply to all places we visit and to our vehicles. Driver will check the vehicle
    for items left by clients. Any garbage left at the vehicle will be given back to our clients.  We need
    vehicles in the best top conditions!

Seat belts

  • Local Laws require the use of the seat belt on any vehicle, whether you are seated in the front or
    last row of seats.  
  • As a client, you have the responsibility of using the seat belt immediately you are inside the
    vehicle and until the engine is off and the vehicle is parked.
  • If you are part of a birding trip and you see a bird you should wait until the driver allows you to
    step out of the vehicle.
  • We are not responsible of any injury you might have if you don´t follow these instructions.

Lost and found

  • We are not responsible for any item left in our vehicles.  Drivers will inspect the vehicle with
    the client before they leave.
  • If any item is found, we will notify the client via email.  Client is responsible for the cost of
    returning items left in our vehicles.  
  • We encourage our customers to gather all your luggage, photo equipment, and any other personal
    items before drop-off to hotel, port or airport.  

Damages to vehicles or equipment

  • The client is responsible for any damage done to our vehicles or equipment.  
  • These damages are not covered in the price of any of our services and will be charged to your
    credit card. Depending on the damage, fees start at $500.  A report will be completed by the driver
    and signed by the client.
  • We will send a copy of the repairs. Your credit card will be charged is the amount of higher than
    the $500 charged to your credit card. If the amount is lower, a credit will be issued to your credit
    card, plus service charge.
  • This happened a few years ago when we arrived at El Yunque National Forest.  A client stepped
    out of the vehicle, lost his balance and hit our vehicle. Although he apologised and gave us $40,
    the cost to repair the damage was $250.  As you will understand, insurance covers a car in
    movement, not parked

Bathroom stops

  • Bathroom stops will be available during each birding date.  On longer drives, we will do our best to
    do as many stops as possible.
  • Hand sanitizer, water, and toilet paper will be available, if needed.

Admissions and fees  

  • Entertainment, special events, sightseeing tours, entrance fees, local guides, tips and service
    charge are included only as stipulated in the itinerary.
  • Tips to the driver or tour guide are not included, but greatly appreciated.
  • Entrance fees to El Portal de El Yunque Visitor Center are included.

NON-SMOKING POLICY  

  • Due to the nature of our tours and our company policy, smoking is not permitted under any
    circumstances during our meals, meetings or tours, nor at hotels, restaurants, entrances, public
    areas, nature reserves, etc.
  • Drivers and tour guides are not allowed to smoke at any moment.  If one of our guides or driver
    smoke during a tour, please email us.
  • The person in charge of the group must inform the members of the group of the non-smoking
    policy, in the event that someone does not follow this policy, a minimum cleaning fee of $350
    will be charged.

TOUR PRICE DOES NOT INCLUDE  

  • All items of a personal nature including wine, liquor, soft drinks, mineral water, laundry, items not
    on regular menus, accident and baggage insurance, end-of-tour gratuity to your tour manager, tour
    guide, driver; and for any personal service rendered and/or not included as part of the itinerary,
    and any items not specifically listed as included.
  • Airline tickets, transfers to hotel.
  • Cleaning fee due to the use of any liquid, cream or chemical, including, but not limited, sun block,
    tanning lotions, insect repellent, etc.  Fee will depend on the type of damage to the vehicle.
  • Raining?  Please ask the driver if you can keep your rain poncho as some vehicles don´t have
    waterproof seats.
