Explore and taste local food with us!
The first thing you consider when planning a trip is where you will stay and eat; and obviously, of course, what you are going to eat.
The Epicurious Expeditions
depicted in this section are
offered on a private basis.
These epicurious expeditions are offered as
half or full day departing from San Juan or
meeting your host on site. Flexible
itineraries and pick/ups.

We have included a variety of ancestral
beverages and cooking techiniques, such
as
maví, casabe, and barbaca. From Africa
we got the
mofongo, ñame, bacalaítos,
alcapurrias, and tostones.  From the
Spaniards and Arab influence we have
several dishes: the
cochifritos (fried pork
ins Spain) and we adopted the
cuchifritos
as anything that is fried with our without
pork; plus,
sancocho and asopao. We
blend history and culture with tasty flavors.

Be aware, eating is our
main objective!
.

share with a local resident, a Certiied
Guide that lives in the neighborhood
you are visiting.

Barbacoa

When the Europeans arrived, part of
the diet of our Ancestors consisted of
fish, manatee,
hutías, casabe (cassava)
and other food cooked using ancient
cooking techniques.  They used the
barbacoa (sacred fire pit, a prototype
of the modern barbecue) were fire and
wood are two esential components.

Tasty Walks

  • Bite & Sip in Luquillo - Historical
walk of Luquillo with the Dynamic
Duo; stops for bite and sip tasty
    local food and drinks.

  • Cuchifritos - Today is national
    fritters day and cuchifritos means
anything that is fried, with our
    without pork. This new activity
takes place at the Kioskos de
    Luquillo.

City Tours

  • La Perla del Sur - The southern
region is well known for the maví,
    quenepas, rum, and more.  Your
Certified Tour Guide is a local
    resident from Ponce that knows
the history of the city, and the
most "in" places where locals go.

    time or holiday celebrations any
    resident, native born today, would
    ask hosts:  where´s the roast
    pork? This iconic sightseeing tour
    in Mayagüez is available only
    on  Sundays. The following stops
    are included:  Confitería Franco,

    finally, Rock´N Go.

Sightseeing Tours

in honor of our Ancestors who
cultivated coffee in 1880´s in the
    mountains of Las Marías and
    Añasco. We expanded the original
    version departing from Mayagüez
and now we have more options
    departing from Ponce, San Juan,
    and Luquillo.

  • Cuerito de lechón - Legends has
it that at la Sierra de Luquillo you
will delight yourself with the best
