Fabulous Birding Tours!!
Review of AdvenTours Puerto Rico
Reviewed May 25, 2024 via mobile
Hilda was amazing!! She catered our two tours to our son’s
interests and both adults and our 10 year old son loved it. We
took the Birding 101 class and the Luquillo Half day tour. We
saw ~20 different birds; several only found in Puerto Rico. My
husband and I were surprised how much we all enjoyed these
outings. Hilda is so knowledgeable and passionate. She really
gets you excited about birding and we were surprised how
much we learned in such a short amount of time. I would highly
recommend this company and will use again in future trips.

Q & A - Shared Bird Outings
Q: How do I know which dates are available as a special shared bird outing?
A: We have a new section in the booking system that allows you to see the dates available
for our shared bird outings: (1) regular El Yunque Bird Outing (4 hours), (2) regular
birding trip with one extra hour for the Amazon (5 hours), and (3) regular bird
outing with one extra hour in Luquillo (5 hours). In Search of the Mucarito (Owl) is
only sold as a shared night tour.
What will happen when is the solo traveler who opens the date for other birders to join and
there is no other booking for that date? Solo travelers opening a Shared Event will be
charged the minimum of participants required to offer a trip if the minimum is not reached.
Rescheduling the trip is not allowed, payments are non-refundable. Solo travelers must
provide their own transportation.
Regular bird outings and Shared Events are not considered bird photography trips, you
should bring binoculars, not cameras. Many birders are complaining that birders with a
camera delay the birding in order to take their pictures. If you want to take your best shots,
consider booking a private bird photography trip. Nevertheless, we have all-inclusive birding
packages for bird photographers. I you don´t have binoculars, we rent binoculars for birders
over 18 years old. We reserve the right of admission.

Q & A - Solo Travelers
Q: I am a solo traveler can I book a birding trip with you? Can I bring my camera?
A: Due to the high volume of birders booking El Yunque from November through April, some
of our birding trips are offered as a Shared Bird Outing. The minimum required to offer
these bird outings is 2 birders. Once the minimum is reached, we open the date as a
Shared Bird Outing which makes it easier for solo travelers to join other birders. Click the

the 19 endemic birds species, such as: Tanager, Emerald, Green Mango, Mango, Tody,
Bullfinch, Elfin-woods Warbler, Spindalis, Woodpecker, Oriole, Flycatcher, plus the

The Lizard Cuckoo is coming back slowly and spreading through the Forest, tte Eupohonia
has taken longer than expected. The Adelaide´s Warbler has been added to the list during

Broad-winged Hawk and Loggerhead King Bird; the Pewee is extremely rare at the Forest).
What else? Native birds, and seasonal migratory bird species.
We will give you the opportunity to select the route and the number of stops based on your

Q & A - Cruise Ship Birders
Q: I arrive at the San Juan Port, what are my chances to see as many endemics as possible?
A: Your best options to go for endemics are El Yunque National Forest and Luquillo Bird Outing. All half-day birding trips with
pick-up at the port are considered private. For the 8:30 AM - 12:30 PM you should depart to the birding site not later than
7:30 AM, and 11:30 AM for the 12:30 PM - 4:30 PM.
If you start birding after 9:30 AM or 1:30 PM, you must contact us before booking online and we will suggest your options or customized
birding trip including transportation.
What is the difference between a shared bird outing vs a private one?
When you book a regular bird outing (Option 1 in the booking system for El Yunque or Luquillo, $130 per person) with a minimum of
2 happy birders, you open selected date as a shared activity and allow others to join you. Shared bird outings are depicted in the
calendar in our booking system. You must have a rented car to join, plus binoculars. You can rent binoculars at the end of the booking
process (18 years old or older to rent them).
Private trips are available for those who (1) prefer go birding alone, (2) are looking for bird photography, or (3) need transportation.
When you just need a camera to remember birds or you want to do bird photography is when you must book one of the private options, prices
will vary (scroll down for more information).
In Search of the Mucarito - One hour
